Project Description

Box Now is a conceptual boxing app designed to deliver full-body strength and conditioning training. As fitness trends shift from group classes to personalized home workouts, Box Now is redefining how individuals train—tapping into a growing audience and reshaping the future of boxing fitness.

Timeline

Completed the full design process—from visual identity and research to design explorations and final deliverables—in just 5 weeks while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Background

Box Now was designed to make boxing training more accessible and engaging by addressing common barriers such as intimidation, lack of experience, and limited trainer accessibility. Through user research, I identified a disconnect in existing boxing apps and aimed to create a solution that simplifies learning, fosters community, and connects users with trainers. By focusing on usability, motivation, and progress trackingBox Now bridges the gap between users and the sport, making boxing a more inclusive and interactive experience.

Process

I took a user-centered approach, starting with research, interviews with boxing trainers, and empathy mapping to identify user needs. From there, I ideated, wireframed, and refined key features. Usability testing validated design decisions, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience that makes boxing more accessible.

Research & Planning

To create a user-focused experience, I began with in-depth research and strategic planning. Through interviews with boxing trainers, user personas, and empathy mapping, I identified key challenges and opportunities. This foundation guided the design process, ensuring that every feature—from trainer accessibility to user engagement—aligned with user needs and expectations.

Design & Prototyping

Building on research insights from boxing trainers and clients from boxing gyms, I created wireframes and prototypes to refine the user experience. I focused on intuitive navigation and trainer accessibility, ensuring a seamless and engaging interface. Usability testing helped validate and improve key design decisions.

Development & Implementation

As a concept project, Box Now focused on defining and refining MVP features through prototyping and usability testing. I prioritized intuitive navigation and trainer accessibility, using feedback from boxing trainers and gym clients to iterate and improve the design. While the app didn’t move into development, the process ensured a well-structured and user-centered experience.

Solution

Box Now delivers an intuitive and engaging boxing training experience by focusing on MVP features that make boxing more accessible. Through user-centered design, the app bridges the gap between trainers and clients, offering guided workouts, seamless navigation, and trainer accessibility. While still a concept, usability testing confirmed its potential to enhance boxing engagement for both beginners and experienced users.

Structured Boxing Progression

A guided level-based system takes users from fundamental techniques to advanced boxing skills. Each level includes step-by-step workouts and drills, allowing users to build confidence and improve at their own pace.

Seamless Trainer Engagement & Scheduling

Users can connect with trainers, book sessions, and receive personalized coaching within the app. This feature enhances trainer-client interaction, making professional guidance more accessible and effective.

Performance Tracking & Growth Insights

An integrated progress tracking system enables users to monitor their improvements over time. It automatically logs completed workouts and milestones, providing motivation and insights into skill development.

Results

Usability testing with boxing trainers and gym clients confirmed that Box Now successfully addresses key barriers to boxing training. Users found the structured progression, trainer accessibility, and intuitive navigation highly engaging and easy to use. The concept generated interest among beginners looking for an approachable way to start boxing and trainers seeking better client interaction. While the app remains a concept, the feedback validated its potential to enhance user engagement and make boxing more accessible.
